NATCHITOCHES – Northwestern State University’s Director of Marketing and Branding Dr. Bill Smith was a featured speaker during the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) annual national convention and workshop in St. Louis, Mo.
Smith presented along with Chris Syme, co-chair of the CoSIDA New Media/Technology Committee, during the session “Social Media 2.0: How Social Media Can Help You in a Crisis.” His presentation, titled “Tale of Two Cities: Case Study of Social Media Response and Impact at TCU and Arkansas, ” offered advice on developing a crisis communications plan with a strong base of advocates on social medial channels. It further discussed monitoring, engagement strategies, messaging and how to handle negative posters. The presentation included case studies and research results.
The workshop was Smith’s 10th time to be a feature speaker for CoSIDA, discussing the use of new media and social media policy and procedures.
